The card use rate for pre-paid and deferred payment, single-use, and commutation use in metropolitan urban railway stations reaches 100%. Passengers using the cards are found to observe three types of behavioral patterns: 1) self-line use in which transportation card reader operating line and initially embarked train line are identical; 2) self-line use in which transportation card reader operating line and train use line are different; and 3) transit use in which the two aforementioned lines differ. Generally, self-line users make up the greater proportion of users and tend to exhibit vertical mobility. This research uses transportation card information to estimate self-line use passenger movements. The methodology adopted is to construct a passenger movement assignment model and to evaluate means for analyzing the movement patterns within the pedestrian facilities.
