Transarterial pulmonary valvotomy for pulmonary stenosis with intact ventricular septum

1967
The investigations and results of pulmonary valvotomy in 45 cases of pulmonary valvar stenosis with an intact interventricular septum are reported. The transarterial route was used in 41 cases with an operative mortality of 2.5 per cent. The follow-up covers a period of 1–9 years. Thirty-three patients had an excellent result. Exercise tolerance returned to normal and electrocardiographic signs of right ventricular hypertrophy disappeared.
