Research on Correlation between Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Types of CHD and Blood Lipids,CRP and Hcy

Objective:Investigation on the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome types of coronary heart disease(CHD)and blood lipids,C-reactive protein(CRP) and homocysteine(Hcy) levels was carried on.This is to provide an objective basis to the differentiation of TCM syndrome types of CHD.Methods:The study recruited 220 CHD patients and 35 healthy control subjects.The TCM syndrome types of the CHD patients included Qi deficiency and blood stasis,Qi and Yin deficiency,Qi stagnation and blood stasis,phlegm stasis,heart blood stasis and Yang deficiency.All subjects were tested for blood lipids level,serum CRP and Hcy levels and the indices were analyzed for its correlations with the TCM syndrome types.Results:(1)The syndrome distribution presented the trend of phlegm stasis syndromeQi deficiency and blood stasis syndromeQi and Yin deficiency syndromeheart blood stasis syndromeQi stagnation and blood stasis syndromeYang deficiency syndrome.(2)The levels of serum lipid:total cholesterol,triglyceride:phlegm stasis syndromeQi stagnation and blood stasis syndromeQi deficiency and blood stasis syndromeheart blood stasis syndromeQi and Yin deficiency syndromeYang deficiency syndrome;low density lipoprotein:phlegm stasis syndromeQi stagnation and blood stasis syndromeheart blood stasis syndromeQi deficiency and blood stasis syndromeQi and Yin deficiency syndromeYang deficiency syndrome.(3)CRP levels in CHD group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.05),and CRP levels among the groups of different syndrome types showed that phlegm stasis syndromeheart blood stasis syndromeQi stagnation and blood stasis syndromeQi and Yin deficiency syndromeQi deficiency and blood stasis syndromeYang deficiency syndrome.(4) Hcy levels:heart blood stasis syndromephlegm stasis syndromeQi stagnation and blood stasis syndromeQi deficiency and blood stasis syndromeQi and Yin deficiency syndromeYang deficiency syndrome.Conclusion:Blood lipids level,serum CRP and Hcy levels are correlated with the TCM syndrome types of CHD.They can be used as objective indexes to support the differentiation of TCM syndrome types of CHD.
