Final Report QUT00004 - A new biopesticide for Diamondback Moth management in canola

2018
Diamondback moth (DBM) (Plutella xylostella) is a key pest of canola worldwide. Resistance to chemical insecticides is widespread. Biopesticides based on baculoviruses have an established role in pest and resistance management strategies in Australia. Baculovirus isolates specific to DBM were imported, characterised and evaluated as biopesticides against DBM. Technical requirements including mass rearing technology (diets and oviposition substrates) and viral characteristics essential for commercial production were successfully addressed. Full genome sequence and biological activity data were generated towards registration in partnership with AgBiTech Pty Ltd.
