PIGMENTED VILLONODULAR SYNOVITIS

Objective\ To explore the clinical pathology, X ray features, diagnosis and treatment of pigmented villonodular synovitis(PVS).\ Methods\ The clinical data of 21 patients with PVS confirmed pathologically were analyzed retrospectively. Results\ Young and middle aged patients accounted for 65% in this group of 21 cases. The knee was involved in 9 cases. A past history of trauma was found in 7 cases. The knees involved were swelling and shown accumulation of fluid. The lesion was characterized by a round bone destruction. A synovectomy was performed for 14 cases.\ Conclusion\ The principle of a combination of clinical manifestations , pathology and X ray findings should be emphasized in the diagnosis. The confirmation depends on the pathology. The major therapy is synovectomy.
