Molecular therapy as primary treatment for adult solid cancers: Gefitinib and Imatinib

Molecular therapies have recently been introduced into clinical oncology but are currently used in advanced cancer and after other treatment options have failed. Here we present case reports of patients whose cancers were successfully treated primarily with Gefitinib and Imatinib respectively. The potential for the use of ‘molecular’ therapy as primary systemic management of human cancer is discussed in the light of these case reports.
