An OVERVIEW on EARTHQUAKE LOAD REDUCTION FACTOR of REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDINGS

2011
In this paper, analytical study has been performed to determine earthquake load reduction factor of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings, to investigate parameters affected to earthquake load reduction factor and their influence values. 48 RC residence buildings have been modelled according to the TEC-2007 criteria and then static pushover analyses have applied to these buildings. After analyses, lateral load- lateral displacement curves have been obtained for each building. Using load-displacement curves, overstrength factor which is a parameter of load reduction factor has been calculated. The obtained values have been compared with TEC-2007 values for releated building types and the results have been interpreted. According to the obtained values from the study, a new point of view has been developed for TEC-2007.
