E MONITOR - EB-Charge Monitoring System Using IoT

2020
This electronic document With the need of comfort living, there is increase in electrical and electronic appliances in every household. Apparently, the electricity consumption of these apparatus has increased multifold. Eventually the electricity charges ramps up leading to last minute surprises. The users unable to control the consumption end up in paying the heavy charges. The need of continuous monitoring of electricity consumption becomes a basic need to adapt. The Node-MCU Arduino board is used for detecting and transmitting the information. The very purpose of the work is to publish detailed report on power consumption of individual appliances every time, thus resulting in the consciousness of cost for electricity consumption. First, create a mobile application that contains a dashboard in which modules for each electrical device that we use in our house are mentioned. Whenever an appliance is chosen, the application gives the amount of electricity consumed so far also the previous month consumptions. In the backend, we use Node-MCV board to collect the live current consumptions of each product in the house. The Node-MCU is connected to the ACS-712(Current sensor). A threshold power limit can be set by the user in mobile application, that it can notify the user once electricity consumption reaches the threshold limit. Individual power consumption is also measured, thereby letting us know which device consumed more power, and helping us to reduce power consumption. The application gives graphical view of the consumption each day. There are very prototypes based on our idea found in our research. But that are developed based on Embedded System, instead of IoT. The advantage of IoT over embedded system is that, we can control or monitor the device from anywhere using internet. But, in embedded system we can control the device only when we are very near to it.
