Synthesis of 4-methyl-5-vinylnicotinonitrile

4-Methyl-5-vinylnicotinonitrile was synthesized from 2-acetylbutyrolactone and cyanoacetamide in four steps with an overall yield of 59.9%.The structure of the target compound was confirmed by 1HNMR and MS analyses.
