Relationship Between RyR2 and Arrhythmia

2010
Ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2) is one of three ryanodine receptors which act as channels for Ca2+ release.RyR2 is specifically located in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) of cardiac muscle cells, and controls the release of Ca2+.RyR2 is modulated by multiple factors. When RyR2 becomes abnormal, either in structure or in modulation, heart failure and fatal arrhythmia result. In this paper the structure, modulation, and the role of RyR2 in arrhythmia is reviewed.
