Effects of adenosine on wavelength of premature atrial complexes in patients without structural heart disease

1996
Abstract In conclusion, although adenosine produced slight decreases in conduction times for premature impulses, there was a proportionally greater decrease in functional refractory period resulting in a decrease in wavelength. A shorter wavelength increases the probability that reentry will occur and may provide a basis for transient atrial fibrillation which is sometimes observed after adenosine administration.
