The Parkes-MIT-NRAO surveys. IV - Maps for the Southern Survey covering delta in the range -88 to -37 deg

1993
The NRAO seven-beam receiver was used on the Parkes 64 m telescope during 1990 June to make the Parkes-MIT-NRAO (PMN) 4. 85 GHz continuum sky surveys of the declination band −88°<δ<−9°. The PMN Southern Survey covering −88°<δ<−37° was reduced with AIPS to yield total-intensity maps covering Ω≃2.5 sr with θ≃5' FWHM resolution (∼4×10 5 beams sr −1 ). The rms map noise plus confusion increases from σ≃5 mJy beam −1 near the south celestial pole to σ≃10 mJy beam −1 at δ=−40°. The rms position uncertainties on the maps vary from 6″ in each coordinate for the strongest sources to 30″ arcsec at S=5σ. Sets of maps precessed to B1950 and J2000 coordinates are available on a FITS tape for quantitative analysis
