Aerostatic bearing spindle system using unidirectional porous metal

2007
A hydrostatic air bearing spindle system using unidirectional porous metal can minimize the deformation and scuff of the main spindle due to the vibration, abrasion, and frictional heat by forming an air curtain in the part directly rubbed with the main spindle in the rotation by the air. A hydrostatic air bearing spindle system using unidirectional porous includes a motor housing(10); a bearing housing(9) integrally formed with the motor housing; a main spindle(3) installed through the inner center of the bearing housing and motor housing; a motor(11) which is installed to surround the main spindle inside the motor housing; and a plurality of unidirectional porous metal bearings(1) which is coaxially installed to surround the main spindle inside the bearing housing in which air holes(2) having a directivity are formed on the outer circumference.
