Optical layer monitoring apparatus and method thereof

An optical layer monitoring apparatus and a method for the same are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, provided are an optical layer monitoring apparatus, including an optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) function so as to monitor optical lines on a passive optical network, and a method for improving the accuracy of monitoring results which are measured using the optical layer monitoring apparatus. Thus, the user can continuously identify whether there is a failure of optical lines and quickly recover the optical lines when a failure of the optical lines occurs.
