Experience with a dynamic voltage restorer for a critical manufacturing facility

This paper presents the summary of the presentation for the panel session "custom power applications and issues" at the IEEE T&D Show 2003 in Dallas. The presentation will introduce and explain the objectives of the DVR application, discuss the ABB's experience over the last several years, and give some trends about the possible future uses of the technology. The presentation refers to a DVR system commissioned in 2000. The DVR compensates sags with a duration of up to 600 milliseconds on a 22.5 MVA load. Single and three phase voltage sags of 50 percent and 35 percent, respectively can be compensated.
