Aspects of Prostaglandin Function in the Lung

1977
Prostaglandin Release from "Healthy," Antigen-Sensitized and Anaphylactic Lung Investigating the chemical mediators in the pulmonary perfusates from the anaphylactic guinea pig, Piper and Vane5 discovered that PG's were released from the lung. Since PG's are not stored in tissues, this release into the medium is a reflection of de novo synthesis. The primary products of synthesis could either be released into the medium or further metabolized before the release, depending presumably on the activities of the PG-catabolizing enzymes present and the degree of hindrance to passage to extracellular spaces.
