THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

2014
Timeframe, medium and teller can make a world of difference to how a story is told and the message it conveys. The works of William Shakespeare have been adapted numerous times since they were written, through stage reproductions as well as films. His play Macbeth, telling the story of a man who is crushed by his own ambition, was interpreted as a film in 1971 by the director Roman Polanski. However, despite the fact that both works depict the same storyline, Polanski's interpretation does not develop the characters, relationships and themes as well as Shakespeare's original.
