Síndrome del asa o lazo de la arteria pulmonar: Presentación de un caso diagnosticado en un paciente adulto

2013
Pulmonary Artery Sling Syndrome is a rare form of congenital malformation of the origin and course of the left pulmonary artery, which is included within the "ring" irregularities that modify the normal anatomy of the mediastinal vessels and produce airway compressions. It is believed to be caused by a failure in the formation of the sixth aortic arch, often with a fatal outcome if not treated in time due to the severity of the respiratory disorders it causes or for severe associated vascular abnormalities. This syndro- me was first described by Glaevecke and Doehle in 1897 (1) . Although rare, several authors have reported cases of this anomaly (2-5) primarily diagnosed in children and newborns.
