Promoting holes transfer for photoelectrochemical water oxidation through bioinspired manganese cluster catalyst lessoned from natural photosystem II

The BiVO4 photoanode is combined with bioinspired Mn4O4-cubane, which has a similar structure and composite as the oxygen evolving complex (Mn4CaO5) in photosystem II. The hybrid photoanode exhibits the lower onset potential and higher photocurrent than the pristine photoanode, because of the faster reaction kinetics and reduced recombination of carriers.
