The invention provides a method and a device for downloading a file and a browser client. The method comprises the following steps of detecting a file downloading event for a to-be-downloaded file in the browser client; starting a downloading assembly in the browser client to display a downloading interface for receiving the to-be-downloaded file, and loading an offline downloading entry in the downloading interface; receiving the triggering on the offline downloading entry, extracting the downloading information of the to-be-downloaded file, uploading to a downloading server corresponding to the browser client, and then enabling the downloading server to use the downloading information to download the to-be-downloaded file; receiving the downloading state information and/or the result information of the to-be-downloaded file from the downloading server, and sending back to the browser client for displaying and/or accessing.
