PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO, CLÍNICO E NUTRICIONAL DE PACIENTES COM LESÃO POR PRESSÃO DE UM HOSPITAL PÚBLICO DE CAMPO GRANDE-MS

2020
Pressure injury is defined as any injury caused by unrelieved pressure, shear or friction that can result in tissue death, often located in the region of bony prominences, which can cause numerous complications and worsen the individual's clinical condition. The objective of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological, clinical and nutritional profile of patients with pressure injuries. Prospective case series study carried out in a public hospital in Campo Grande / MS in the Medical Clinic ward and in the Intensive Care Center. Data were collected from medical records, including: sex, age, race, medication, hospitalization unit, length of stay. The assessment of nutritional status was carried out by applying the Subjective Global Assessment. The evaluation of the presence of pressure injury was performed by a nurse and, to categorize the internship, the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel scale was used. The SPSS program was used, considering 5% of significance. Twenty individuals participated, 55% male and 45% female, predominantly white, 50% adults and 50% elderly. It was observed that the majority were bedridden (80%), suggesting an increased risk of damage to nutritional status. The most common specialty was pneumology (20%). In 50% of the individuals, injuries were found in several regions, the sacral being the most prevalent, and grade II, the most common injury stage, mainly in the elderly (60%). The highest prevalence of medication was antibiotics 90% (n = 18) and antiulcer 80% (n = 16). Most individuals had a diagnosis of well nourished 80% (n = 16), with 20% (n = 4) mildly / moderately malnourished. The study identified a profile with a predominance of male, white and bedridden individuals, developing pressure injuries in the evaluated hospital. Nutritional status is essential for the treatment or prophylaxis of injuries, being strongly associated with a good prognosis when the individual is well nourished.
