Functional morphology of the spiracles in two species of Argasidae (Metastigmata: Acarina), with particular reference to responses to desiccation

Spiracle morphology of Argas persicus (Oken) and Omithodorus acinus Whittick is described and the differences between the two species are related to biological factors. Argasid and ixodid spiracle structures and functions are compared.
