Evidence for early fluidity changes in the plasma membranes of interferon treated L cells, from fluorescence anisotropy data

1983
Abstract A significant increase of the plasma membrane fluidity is observed in L cells upon treatment with mouse β interferon, by the means of fluorescence anisotropy measurements of DPH. The effect is dose dependent and, at the difference with previously reported membrane effects of interferon, is an early one (maximum for a 30 min. treatment), and may be directly related to the initiation of antiviral activity.
