Robust methods for retrieving brightness-temperature contrasts from SSM/I microwave radiometer data

1997
Methods for interpolating data from microwave radiometric scanners that do not require an accurate shape of the receive pattern but provide a high space resolution have been synthesized on the basis of the robust approach to the sampling estimation. Various versions of median algorithms for interpolating data from a single radiometric channel are discussed and compared. An algorithm for interpolating data of a low-frequency channel with an account of data from the high-frequency channel that provides a higher space resolution is proposed. The algorithm efficiency is illustrated by the results of processing the data from Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) microwave radiometric system operating on board of Defense Meteorological Satellite Program the (DMSP) F10 spacecraft.
