On the searching of an MPEG-7 optimum search engine

Studies on MPEG-7 have so far been concentrated only on the normative components. Whilst feature extraction has been an active research subject in content-based retrieval studies, work on content-based search engines is scarce. In this paper, we attempt to perceive the constructs of an MPEG-7 optimum search engine by examining various requirements as well as functionality imposed on, or enabled for, the search engine by the MPEG-7 standard.
