Observation on the efficacy of application of modified scleral flap adjustable suture in glaucoma surgery

2018
Objective To observe the efficacy of application of modified scleral flap adjustable suture in glaucoma filtering operation. Methods All cases with glaucoma were divided into 2 groups randomly. The observation group, 65 eyes of 65 cases received modified scleral flap adjustable suture combined with application of mitomycin-C treatment. The control group, 63 eyes of 63 cases underwent traditional trabeculectomy. Results The intraocular pressure(IOP) at 7 days, 2 months, 6 months and 1 year after surgery were (12.1±1.8)mmHg, (13.4±2.2)mmHg, (14.3±2.3)mmHg, (14.8±1.4)mmHg in the observation group and(13.15±1.01)mmHg, (15.11±0.76)mmHg, (17.34±0.84)mmHg, (18.62±0.47)mmHg in the contorl group(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa). The difference of IOP were not statistically significant between the two groups at 7 d and 2 months after operation(t=1.535, 1.232; P=0.134, 0.976). The difference of IOP at 6 months and 1 year was statistically significant between the two groups(t=0.453, 0.253; P=0.029, 0.003). Conclusion The application of modifide scleral flap adjustable suture combined with mitomycin-C for the treatment of glaucoma is effective for controlling IOP at 6 and 12 months after surgery.
