Alerta nos presídios: medidas de urgência outorgadas ao Estado brasileiro pelo Sistema Interamericano de Direitos Humanos

The Urso Branco Prison, the Curado Complex, the Penitentiary Complex of Pedrinhas and the Central Prison of Porto Alegre are Brazilian prisons currently in focus under the emergency measures issued by the Commission and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The Inter-American Human Rights System bodies have a system of urgent measures (precautionary and provisional) which allows them, in cases of gravity, urgency, and irreparable damage, to require actions to the states signatory to the American Convention on Human Rights, which Brazil is a part of. This article presents results of research on emergency measures demanded by the IACHR and the Inter-American Court in the prisons indicated above and provides an analytical bias of Brazilian prisons monitored by inter-American bodies for the protection of human rights in the region under the perspective of mass incarceration in the country.
