Language Centres in Higher Education: Sharing, Innovations,Research, Methodology and Best Practices

Masaryk University Language Centre, being a dynamic organization of many educational as well as research interests, invited higher education teaching staff, researchers and managers to present, share and discuss their ideas in a creative atmosphere of the conference. There were four sections: Innovation, Research, Methodology and Best Practices. These main topics were approached through the following subtopics: innovation and pilot experiments in teaching LAP/LSP; innovations in academic writing; introducing alternative teaching methods, such as collaborative learning, autonomous learning, cross-cultural communication, creativity, critical thinking and other soft skills; new approaches to standardizing/personalizing language assessment and testing; ICT implementation; social media in language learning and teaching; continuous professional development, further staff education and training; University Language Centres – language policies implementation; University Language Centres – local, national and/or international networking strategies; management of university language centres; soft and personal skills development; ways of collecting and implementing feedback material, and quality management.
