Migration and the growth of Soviet cities

The magnitude and characteristics of the factors influencing migration to 21 intermediate and large Soviet cities are examined using official data for 1971 and a cross-sectional approach. The author concludes that the factors affecting migration to urban areas are similar to those that have been shown to be significant in market economy countries. These factors include variables such as urban density housing and availability of goods and services. (summary in GER) (ANNOTATION)
