Application of double-J in urology (1 580 cases report)

Objective To clarify systematically the indication, method, complications and measures of treatment of indwelling of double-J ureteral stent. Methods 1580 cases were employed in the study, including ureteroscopic lithortripsy(1281), ureterolithotomy(96), pyeloplasy for ureteropyelo junction obstruction(42), nephrolithiasis(48), ureterocystostomy(32), ureteral stricture(66), injury of ureter(6), retroperitoneal fibrosis(4), retroperitoneal tumor(5) and post-ureterocystostomy fistula(5). Results The internal drainage was confirmed in all cases. Current complications includes cystoureterol reflux, dislocation of stent, hematuria, lithiasis formation, lower urinary track symptoms, foreign body rejection. Conclusions It is the first line treatment of indwelling of double-J ureteral stent for upper urinary track diseases. Severe complication can be avoid if indications are adopted correctly.
