Developments in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota in 1963

1964
A number of significant events in 1963 assure active exploratory programs for North Dakota, Montana, and South Dakota in the immediate years ahead. In South Dakota, a widespread, large-scale, active lease pay was the biggest event in the state in years. Discovery of highly productive wells at shallow depths, with good oil and gas reserves, was the bright spot of Montana oil history in 1963, and new provinces for exploratory action will follow. The evolution of the relationships of hydraulic factors to structural-stratigraphic oil and gas accumulations, and its effect on geologic thinking, progressed in 1963, and assures continued activity in North Dakota in the search for new trends and traps.
