115 First Report of Real-time Tumor Tracking in the Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer using the Calypso System

2009
Results: The median age of the entire cohort was 54 years. In the LIG cohort, the median size was 1.0 cm. In the HG cohort, the median size was 0.8 cm. In the LIG cohort, the 5-year IBTR was 2.5%, compared to 6.8% at 5 years in E5194. In the HG cohort, the 5-year IBTR was 6.4% compared to 13.7% at 5 years in E5194. Of note, 72% of all IBTRs were seen after 5 years in both LIG and HG DCIS patients treated with adjuvant radiation therapy. The 5-year contralateral breast event rate was 3.7% and 4.5% in LIG and HG patients (compared to 3.5% and 4.2%, respectively, in E5194). Conclusions: Adjuvant whole-breast radiation therapy reduces the rate of local recurrence by over 50% in patients who meet the criteria of E5194 (6.8% to 2.6% in the low- to intermediate-grade and 13.7% to 6.4% in the high-grade). This study found that all patients with low-risk DCIS benefit from adjuvant radiotherapy. It should be noted that 70% of IBTRs occurred after 5 years and additional follow-up of E5194 is necessary. In addition, the contralateral breast event rate in our series of patients treated with whole-breast RT appears to be similar to that of E5194 patients where RT was omitted.
