The umbilical nodule was diagnosed asmetastatic adenocarcinoma by fine needle aspirationcytology. She was investigated thoroughly and there wasno evidence of any recognisable underlying condition forsuch a diagnosis. Awide surgical excision of the nodulewas performed and histopathology excluded malignancybut confirmed the diagnosis of endometriosis.
