ANALYSIS THE RESULT FROM SMEAR AND BACTERIAL CULTURE

2003
Objective: To evaluate the values of sputum smear for bacterial culture and therapeutic. Methods:Sputum specimens were directly examined under microscope by Gram staining.Qualified sputum specimens were cultured for bacterial isolation, and the antimicrobial activity tests.Partition qualified sputum specimens into Gram positvie cocci,Gram negative rods, fungus and natural specimens. Results: The qualify rate for three hundred and fourteen sputum specimens was 62.4%(196/314).One hundred and forty-five patogenic agents were isolated from 196 qualified sputum specimens, the isolating rate was 74.0%. Smear and culture bacteria were Gram negative rods,Gram positive cocci and fungus the isolating rates being 93.1%,68.4% and 41.2%.Except that eight shares were Gram positive cocci to culture also.Ten shares of sputum specimens were examined fungus, culture weren't it,six shares were examined fungus when it's overtime. Conclusions: The result in bacterial culture was correlated with qualify of sputum specimens, growth speed of pathogenicbacteria, treatment received previously, etc. So clincian must judging the pathogenicbacteria by the result form smear and clinical symptom.
