Investigation of the peculiarities of catalytic cracking in a stepwise counter — current reactor by collection of intermediate samples

1970
1. The design of a sample collector and method of collecting samples of vapors from the dusty zone of apparatuses with a boiling bed were described. 2. Using the sample collector developed, the course of the conversion of the crude and change in the yields and quality of the products according to zones of the stepwise-counter-current catalytic cracking reactor were studied. 3. An investigation of the course of catalytic cracking according to sections of the stepwise counter-current reactor with an isothermal system and with a temperature drop indicated that: a) in the first three sections of the reactor the yield of gasoline reaches 80–90% by weight of its total yield in the reactor at a degree of conversion of the crude of about 78–90% and yield of gas no more than 45% of the final value; b) in the following sections of the apparatus the gasoline quality is improved (decrease in the iodine number and sulfur content, increase in the octane number) and gaseous olefins are supplementarily formed; c) for the same average temperature of the process, in experiments with a temperature drop along the height of the reactor, the yield of gasoline and isobutane increases somewhat with analogous degrees of conversion of the crude, yield of gas and coke. 4. The method and sample collector developed can be used to investigate other processes in a boiling bed.
