Studying Factors Related to Childbearing from Galikesh Payam-e-Nour University Students' Point of View

Background and Aim: The rapid decline in fertility rates together with an increase in the mean age of marriage and its effect on Iran population structure is a warning. This study was carried out with the purpose of studying factors related to childbearing from Galikesh Payam-e-Nour University students' point of view.Materials and methods: The study is of cross-sectional type. The sample size was 317 students at Galikesh Payam-e-Nour University in 2014. The samples were selected using random sampling. The questionnaire as an instrument contained demographic information with 7 questions and study the students' attitudes towards childbearing with 20 questions. The data has been analyzed using SPSS 21 and analytic descriptive statistic tests.Results: Considering the amount of attitude towards childbearing as a dependent variable and 6 independent variable (social acceptance , accountability , social participation, economic factors, personal factors, religious orientation ) as predictor factors in the linear regression model, and based on the results of factor analysis , the personal factors with the correlation of beta (7.049), economic factors (4.25), accountability (2.98), social participation (2.55), religious orientation (0.114), social acceptance (-1) respectively, showed the importance and their priority of students' attitudes towards childbearing. The results of the study showed that the personal factors have the most meaningful relationship with the childbearing attitude.Conclusion: In the study, in students' attitudes towards childbearing the highest priority was with personal factors. Therefore, besides appropriate policy formulation, actions should be taken to plan and perform the operational and inclusive plans for the motivation of childbearing.
