PURIFICATION AND CHARACTERISATION OF A GENTIOHEXAOSE OLIGOSACCHARIDE OBTAINED FROM BOTRYOSPHAERAN BY PARTIAL- ACID HYDROLYSIS

2008
PURIFICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A GENTIOHEXAOSE OLIGOSACCHARIDE OBTAINED FROM BOTRYOSPHAERAN BY PARTIAL ACID HYDROLYSIS. A hexaoligosaccharide was obtained by partial-acid hydrolysis from botryosphaeran, an exopolysaccharide (EPS) of the β-(1→3;1→6)-D-glucan type, produced by the ascomyceteous fungus Botryosphaeria rhodina MAMB-05. The oligosaccharide was purified by chromatography on Sephadex G-15 and charcoal-Celite and the analyses followed by HPAEC/PAD. The structure of the oligosaccharide was determined by NMR and mass spectrometry, and showed that it consisted of six β-Dglucopyranosyl units O-6 substituted (gentiohexaose ).
