Desenvolvimento de uma metodologia para o planejamento de craniotomias utilizando-se um aparelho localizador acoplado à tomografia computadorizada

The development of a CT-guided localizing device is presented. This device permits planning craniotomies with correct positioning in relation to the brain lesions and its use associated with the atlas of Talairach and Tournoux (39), allowing to keeping to a minimum lesions of essential areas. A study of 14 cases showed the efficacy of the methodology: the correct placement of craniotomy was adequate in all patients, as determined intraoperatively of cases of superficial lesions and by postoperative computerized tomography in cases of deep seated lesions. Clinically, there was no increase in postoperative morbidity, with preservation of function of eloquent brain regions.
