Requirements for Long-Term Preservation of Digital Videos and First Experiments with an XMT-Based Approach

In this paper, we deal with the emerging challenge of long-term preservation of digital videos. We focus on aspects that have to be considered for long-term preservation in general and identify requirements for long-term preservation of digital videos. We refine an XMT-based approach, which was introduced in [1], document the experiences we gained during the design and implementation of a first prototype and give details about some major advantages and challenges that result from the separation of different artifacts and the use of an XML wrapper.
