Gas combustion in closed systems of variable volume

1985
The thermodynamic aspects of the problem of gas combustion in closed systems of variable volume and some illustrative examples are considered in this work. In the given examples, two basic elementary processes may be isolated. First, a chemical process characterized by the combustion rate and the caloric content of the mixture, and, second, a physical process with a characteristic time depending on its nature. Nonsteady behavior of the system is determined principally by the given ratio of characteristic times. In the range of parameters with commensurate characteristic times, a stronger change in the spatial, time, and thermodynamic characteristics of the process is realized.
