DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY PERSPECTIVE ON ALTERNATIVE FUELS

1999
This conference presentation generally discusses the perspective of the U.S. Department of Energy on alternative fuels, and specifically focuses on ethanol and biodiesel. Involvement by the author with a recent ethanol vehicle challenge among students from 14 U.S. universities is related. U.S. national energy policy and worldwide climate changes likely to impact on oil and gas reserves in the future are discussed. Increased use of alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles by the U.S. National Park Service is suggested. National Parks are ideal places for the environmental benefits of alternate fuel use.
