An essential part of clinical immunology are laboratory immunological tests. In this article principle of the tests and the need for their constant evaluation, quality control and standardization are considered. Sampling, sample processing, testing, reading and reporting of the results are commented on and critically appraised. Examples, based on several years experience of the Referral Center, are used to emphasize the most important conclusions
