Advances in diagnosis and treatment of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease

2017
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a common single-gene inherited kidney disease, and also the fourth leading cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Currently, no effective treatment exists to delay ADPKD progression. In recent years, there has been great progress in gene research, diagnosis and treatment of ADPKD. Moreover, clinical trials were conducted using somatostatin analogs and vasopressin receptor antagonists, and resulted in the approval of tolvaptan in treatment of ADPKD in some countries. The relevant research status and developments of ADPKD will be summarized in the present paper focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. DOI: 10.11855/j.issn.0577-7402.2017.11.16
