Clinical observation of early transplantation of amniotic membrane for ocular alkali burn

[Objective] To estimate the clinical effect of early transplantation of fresh amniotic membrane for ocular alkali burn.[Methods] Twelve patients(14 eyes) with alkali burn were treated with fresh amniotic membrane.[Result] After average follow-up for 6 months,the inflammations were controlled.There were no rejection of amniotic membrane and melt of cornea-sclera.The amniotic membrane was absorbed in 10 days post-operation with the ease of corneal edema and improvement of transparency.There were no recurrences of corneal ulcer.The visions in all cases were improved to different extents.[Conclusion] The early transplantation of fresh amniotic membrane is an effective method for ocular alkali burn.
