Sir, We read with much interest the letter from Dr. Scheid regarding our article [1] and we fully agree that Lyme disease is part of the differential diagnosis of neurosyphilis. The hypothesis was considered in our case but excluded by clinical and laboratory examination. The first VDRL test was positive on serum and negative on CSF, which is why the patient had a second lumbar puncture 6 days later. This tested positive for both VDRL and TPHA.
