Significance of the electrocaloric effect in stimulated scattering of ultrashort pulses

It is shown that, although the effect of the "electrocaloric" term in the usual description of a scattering medium is negligible in the steady state, it may play a dominant role in the stimulated scattering of ultrashort pulses.
