Three-body break-up in the reaction 7Li(d, n)αα

1967
Abstract The energy spectra of alpha particles in coincidence with neutrons have been studied in the reaction 7 Li(d, n)2α at a deuteron energy of 180 keV. The form of the spectra can be roughly approximated by a spectral for, ϱ(E) = ( d d E )(δ+φ) proposed by Phillips, Griffy and Biedenharn for sequential decay. A major discrepancy between sequential decay prediction and experiment exists in the α-n angular correlation corresponding to the P 1 2 first excited state of 5 He.
