Myanmar - Flood and Landslides Emergency Recovery Project : environmental and social management framework

2016
The development objective of the Flood and Landslides Emergency Recovery Project for Myanmar is to support recovery in priority disaster-affected areas, and in the event of another eligible crisis or emergency, to provide immediate and effective response to said eligible crisis or emergency. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) avoid or locate optional construction sites and activities away from sensitive areas; (2) ensure sufficient visibility along the road section and provide light and warning signs in design; (3) include temporary fences and barriers to restrict construction activities from burial grounds and other cultural heritage sites; (4) prohibit discharge of sediment bearing contaminated water to streams and ocean; (5) install proper drainage to isolate the stockpile and dumping sites; (6) spray water on exposed soil surfaces and access roads; and (7) ensure all occupational health and safety requirements are in place on construction sites and in work camps.
