유아 발달을 위한 소파디자인 방향 제안 - 유아기 자녀를 둔 가정의 거실 공간 중심으로 -

Sofas in the living room where having the most time with parents who have the greatest influence on infants are usually placed separately. It shows that the interaction between infants and parents, and infants and families is not working smoothly. We thought that if we design sofa which parents and infants can use together while guaranteeing the autonomy for each of them, it will help the development of infants. We identified the characteristics of infants and found that the physical environmental conditions required for infants were movement, health, comfort, self-esteem and privacy. And we found that living space is complex and multipurpose space through previous research and realized that sofa should support various behaviors of infants accordingly. We suggest various design types such as low top design, use of partition and unit configuration for infants development after examining and analyzing sofas that can be used by parents and infants together while meeting requirements for infants among sofas currently in the market. Finally, we found that the furniture for infants should reduce its size and make changes in complex functions. We hope that future research will be conducted in-depth to develop sofa for development of infants.
