El símbolo de muerte en El Monte de las ánimas de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

2021
“El Monte de las animas” represents the poetics of Becquer —transcendence of the self in the other by love—. What is opposed to said poetics is the symbol of death. Therefore, exists unconscious contents symbolized by the main and secondary characters that involve culture and nature, earth and cosmos. The deformations of these unconscious contents in the main characters symbolize the tension between opposing knowledge. Such deformations affirm a poetics of death over a poetics of love. The Knowledge and deformed characters have different meanings from literal ones. For that reason, behind the souls and story lie symbolic meanings that move away from the known.
